Well, I finally made it.  I am here in Harbin, China and so far it is everything I didn’t imagine it would be.  Forget that mystical Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon stuff you have in your head because this is a city of 10 million people!  From day one we already had Chinese students taking us around to experience the savory varieties of meat they have on every street corner.  It really isn’t a lie, the smoked Russian sausage here is better than any I have every experienced.  I don’t want to get caught up on the sausage thing – the important part of that was the fact that we have already made some good friends.  The following day they took us to Harbin’s premier theme park where I rode one of the craziest roller coasters of my life.  The safety of it all may have been questionable, but the fun was worth such risks.

This morning was a good morning because my friend Jared and I decided to shoot hoops with some of the locals at the courts near our house.  They were very inviting and immediately assumed that we were good at basketball because “you are American, all Americans play basketball in high school.”  I assured them that Jared and I didn’t make our high school teams and there was nothing to worry about.  Long story short, they owned us and some quality, competitive bonds were made.  We told them same place, same time, tomorrow.

Anyway, there is a lot happening everyday and I’ll do my best to keep a quality, condensed update more often than not.  Classes start in two days, so I’m expecting some good moments in the near future worthy of writing.
